@n0madz@wzrds.fun Yep theres a couple of different ways.
Easiest to hardest (if you have the hardware): 1. Set up yunohost and click install on bookwyrm. 2. Set up docker and just run though the docker commands 3. Set up everything on the getting started instructions 4. do it all yourself.
Hope that helps! Its a standard Django setup if your familiar. The only thing I customized is removing the ability to email/registration. We dont really need that and I only want to have at most 5 people on my personal instance.

It a great read if you havent experienced the internet in its entirety
3 stars
The book was a bit of a slog to get through. Its points ar very well done, but it keeps repeating the same ideas over and over again.
I wanted to like it more than I ended up.
What I liked about the book is that it went over some really good motifs on what the internet seems to be doing and how the algorithms work. It goes into what they are designed to do (keep you on the platform, serve you ads) and how each platform got to where they are today in 2024. It has some answers that I think are good ones. Everyone should have a digital detox at some point in their life. Too many screens can make you unaware of the real world from time to time.
Overall I still think its a good read, its just a bit dry.

the author's personal brand is now all that matters; its the work itself that is dead.
